Between Now and May 5th

Page history last edited by Jennifer Vogtner 2 years ago

... nothing more can be attempted than to establish the beginning and the direction of an infinitely long road. The pretension of any systematic and definitive completeness would be, at least, a self-illusion. Perfection can here be obtained by the individual student only in the subjective sense that (s)he communicates everything (s)he has been able to see.

1. You will all recall an exercise during the writing of the NOFO wherein each of us created our own unique "mix" of the NOFO's problem statement. I am prescribing a similar exercise this week, this time on the terrain and plane of consistency that we have been calling the formal report. We ALL need to feedback this week. Yes, I hope to see all of you at the awards ceremony on May 5th. But I realize that last night was our last meeting together, as a class. Therefore, the wiki is more important this week than ever before--now, feedback must move even further from suggestions/comments/meta-discussion, and closer to a inter-linked assemblage of individual versions/perspectives of our experiences and writings. This week, in the genre of your choosing, create your mix and link it to this page! You will of course be sampling and reworking your peers' writing, here, and this writing process and the new arrangements it creates should generate new developments, as well. I am confident that this exercise will generate personal and collective insight, clarity. I believe it is will prove to be a productive way to contribute to the collective work, open up future avenues for research and learning, and render strong reflections--reflections strong enough to anchor personal portfolios. Let's do this!

2. We need representatives/speakers for the awards ceremony: 5 May

Hi! Dr. Conner or any helpful classmates -- I feel kind of dumb for asking, but for this assignment, should I do more of a reflection on the semester and what I learned, or do a creative version of the formal report, or something entirely different? I'm a little confused and feel out of the loop. Thanks for your help. -- Heather 5/4

Heather, I would do whatever suits you. Does your portfolio need a reflection? Or would it benefit from a version/transformation of the report? Or perhaps a focused amplification of some aspect of the report would really "bring it on home," both in terms of your personal experience/portfolio and in terms of enhancing the collective effort? Or, perhaps you want to pull in some research and emphasize an element or exigency not yet in evidence in the existing report(s)? -ShareRiff

Okay -- I'm working on more of a reflection, and I think it should be done by tomorrow. Thanks for your help! -- Heather 5/5
